The ampacity of submarine cable circuits is strongly influenced by heat transfer in the marine environment surrounding cable. It has been demonstrated previous work that for high permeability sediments convective can play a significant roleusing both bespoke two dimensional models and experimental investigations [T. J. Hughes, 2016, C. Emeana, 2016]. This paper introduces one model which capable calculating temperatures within conductive sediments.
